TRUEFAN REACTION: KNICKS SIGN RAMON SESSIONS/MICHAEL BEASLEY AND CARMELO TRADE RUMORS
Written by Kyle Crabbe
The New York Knicks continue to add the final
touches to the roster as the off-season dwindles down and we get
ready to approach training camp. Recently the Knicks added two
intriguing NBA veterans that should play significant roles in the
upcoming 2017-18 NBA Season. They also added 3 young players in F Nigel Hayes, F Jamel Artis, and G Xavier Ratham-Mayes to come
into camp and try to make the team or find a role in the
organization. We will go further into depth of the Knicks summer moves and winter outlooks in our 2017 Off-Season Review article but lets start with breaking down the two vets recently signed in PG Ramon
Sessions and former 2008 2nd overall pick SF Michael
Beasley.
-Ramon Sessions
-Sessions is a 10-year NBA Veteran,
whose career averages are of 10.6 ppg, 4.1 ast, with a 43% / 31% /
79% slash.
-Sessions is a very good point guard
and makes for a good mentor and solid back-up for Knicks Star Rookie
Point Guard Frank Nitlikina. Sessions also is a good distributor of
the basketball and that will serve well for the other offensive
players on the Knicks like Kristaps Porzingis, Willy Hernangomez, and
Tim Hardaway, Jr.
-At 1 year, league mininum salary, I
believe this is a great signing for the New York Knicks and a great
piece for the current roster. The Knicks get a solid point guard that
can contribute on a nighly basis and a comfortable back-up and mentor
for Future Franchise Point Guard Frank Nitlikina.
Grade: A-
-Michael Beasley
-Michael Beasley is the former 2nd
overall selection in the 2008 NBA Draft( Derrick Rose was 1st
pick)
-Beasley is a former All-Rookie First
Team selection and 2016 CBA MVP
-Beasley career averages are 12.6 ppg/
4.7 reb/ .5 blk on a 45% / 35% / 75% slash.
-I love the Michael Beasley signing for
several reasons and this signing is a classic low-risk high potential
reward investment. Beasley's greatest skill is he is a flat out scorer
from the Small Forward position. He is a lot like Knicks Superstar
Carmelo Anthony. He can be considered a poor man's Melo as his game
is heavily influenced by his scoring talents. If the Knicks are to
move Carmelo, the Beasley signing becomes even greater of an pickup
as Beasley would be able to pick up some of the offensive output Melo
would be taking with him. At 6'9, 235lbs, Beasley can also flourish
in a small-ball game at the Power Forward which was a strategy
Knicks' coach Jeff Hornacek likes to employ. Beasley played very well
for the Milwaukee Bucks last year in short minutes on a great
shooting percentage. I believe Beasley proves to be another great
signing by the new Knicks front office.

Carmelo To The Rockets
The
hottest Knicks talk for much of the 2017 summer has been the
persistent Carmelo Anthony to Houston Rockets rumors. Many reports
have Carmelo Anthony only waving his no-trade clause to go to Houston
to team up with his best friend PG Chris Paul and buddy SG James
Harden. With Houston Head Coach and former NY Knicks Coach Mike
D'Antoni public saying he would welcome coaching Carmelo Anthony
again, signs have pointed to Carmelo being destine to land in Houston
for the upcoming NBA season. Here we look at a very possible trade
that would benefit all parties involve and would land Carmelo with
the Rockets.
HOUSTON
ROCKETS RECEIVE: F CARMELO ANTHONY
DETROIT
PISTONS RECEIVE: F RYAN ANDERSON, G TIM QUARTERMAN
NY
KNICKS RECIEVE : F TOBIAS HARRIS, 2020 HOUSTON 1ST ROUND PICK
Verdict
I believe this deal would work and benefits all 3 teams
involved. The Houston Rockets get their man in Superstar Forward
Carmelo Anthony and get Ryan Anderson's large contract off their
books without having to part ways with Trevor Ariza. Detroit would
welcome F Ryan Anderson because he fits not only a need but one of
their coaches preferences. Detroit Head Coach Stan Van Gundy best
team so far in the NBA sported a young C Dwight Howard and two
stretch shooting forwards in Hedo Turkuglu and Rashard Lewis. Ryan
Anderson is liked by Stan Van Gundy and would be the ideal stretch 4
to combine with Pistons current star C Andre Drummond. I also believe
Stan Van Gundy would be very willing to part ways with F Tobias
Harris because the Pistons have intriguing young prospect Stanley
Johnson to fill Harris's position.
For the Knicks, the deal works as in they are able to
trade Carmelo to a team he prefers and they are able to continue to
build youthful for the future. In this deal the New York Knicks would
get an ideal younger replacement for Carmelo Anthony. Tobias Harris
is a good shooter from all three levels and is a solid rebounder and
like Melo is not noted for his defense. Harris is however also a New
York product as he hails from long island New York. And for the
Knicks to trade a future hall a famer in Carmelo away, I believe it's
a must that they get a draft pick for the future in any deal
involving him. I would prefer Melo to stay with the Knicks and
possible retire a Knicks after winning a championship with Kristaps
and Nitlikina but if he is to go to Houston this is my take on a
great deal.
Thanks for viewing.
