One of the biggest events every season in the NBA is the trade deadline. That particular day brings a flurry of rumors, news, and game-changing Franchise Transactions. This year is no different as many big name players have already been in the news as part of potentially major trade deadline deals.

The New York Knicks might be very active come the Trade Deadline this season. With the season now going into full rebuild mode and chances of a post-season run being all but vanished, the Knicks have a number of reasons to be pretty active come the deadline February 7th.

There's a few players that NBA followers and Knicks fans alike can look at potentially leaving New York and those players I outlined in this New York Knicks 2019 Trade Deadline Preview.

5 Trade Candidates for 2019 New York Knicks Trade Deadline

1) Enes Kanter
Position: Center
Size: 6'11, 250Lbs
Age: 26

Possible Great Fits: OKC Thunder, Sacramento Kings, Golden State Warriors, Dallas Mavericks

Best Fit: Dallas Mavericks
Potential Role with Mavericks: Sixth Man

Potential 3 Team Trade:

Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns

Dallas Mavericks Receive
C Enes Kanter, 2020 2nd Round Pick via Phoenix

Phoenix Suns Receive
PG Dennis Smith Jr

New York Knicks Receive
SF Mikal Bridges, SG Wesley Matthews(Contract Buyout), Cash Considerations via Dallas

TrueFan Take:
Enes Kanter is an excellent teammate and even better interior offensive player. Kanter's style of play is a throwback to that of the better frontcourt players of the 1980's and 1990's. Unfortunately for Kanter however, is he doesn't fit well with the current rebuild of the New York Knicks. With the Knicks current management and Head Coach David Fizdale preaching developing the Knicks into a elite defensive team, Kanter has struggled. In recent days Kanter has been benched for younger players like Luke Kornet and Mitchell Robinson to get playing time.

I believe Kanter is a very talented basketball player and can be a valuable player for a numerous amount of NBA teams. I believe a great spot and excellent return home for Kanter could be in a deal to the OKC Thunder where he is beloved and played 3 seasons with. Maybe the Knicks grant Kanter a buyout and allow him to play with his best friends of Center Steven Adams and Point Guard Russell Westbrook.

A better and more likely deal could be to send Kanter to the Dallas Mavericks and facilitate a three-team deal netting the Phoenix Suns their much needed Point Guard. In the deal outlined above the Knicks would get a player they scouted heavily in this year's past draft. In Mikal Bridges the Knicks would receive an excellent young 3 and D wing player to compliment the Knicks young roster well and the Phoenix Suns would add the Point Guard of the future and cement their young core with Dennis Smith Jr. The apparent rift between Dallas and Smith Jr with the emergence of Rookie Phenom Luka Doncic could allow Dallas to strengthen their bench and overall roster with addition of Enes Kanter. Kanter would add another excellent pick-n-roll partner for Mavericks Savant Rookie Luka Doncic. This deal could potentially net the Knicks a young two-way prospect and cap relief.

2) Courtney Lee
Position: Shooting Guard
Size: 6'5”, 215Lbs
Age: 33

Possible Great Fits: OKC Thunder, Detroit Pistons, Philadelphia 76ers, Houston Rockets, Memphis Grizzlies

Best Fit: Detroit Pistons
Potential Role with Pistons: Starting Shooting Guard

TrueFan Take:
Courtney Lee is a very solid NBA player who can impact the game in a numerous amount of areas. Lee is a excellent perimeter defender, consistent outside shooter and has a high basketball IQ. With Lee being a seasoned veteran and of 33 years of age doesn't match well with the Knicks timeline right now and could be taking minutes away from the younger developing Knicks. A trade deadline deal for Lee or a possible team-friendly buyout could benefit both Lee and New York. I see Lee being great fits with either the Detroit Pistons as a starting 2-Guard or potentially coming off the Houston Rockets bench as a great “ 3 and D” wing. A comfortable return for New York in a Lee deal would be a late 1st Round Pick or a Second Round Pick with salary cap relief.

3) Trey Burke
Position: Point Guard
Size: 6'1, 175Lbs
Age: 26

Possible Great Fits: Phoenix Suns, Orlando Magic, Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets

Best Fit: Orlando Magic
Potential Role with Magic: Starting Point Guard

TrueFan Take:
Trey Burke has had a tough up-climb in his NBA career. The 2013 College Player of the Year through his first 6 NBA Seasons Burke has yet to find his stride and nail down a consistent NBA role. However I believe there are two particular teams that are excellent fits for Burke and could potentially be career saving destinations.

The first spot is a team with a clear need for point guard and that has a lot of younger talent in the Phoenix Suns. Burke would easily and seamlessly become the starting Point Guard in a offensively elite back-court with Super Shooting Guard Devin Booker.

The Second Team and possibly the best fit for Burke in the entire NBA would be manning the Point Guard spot for the up and coming Orlando Magic. If Burke were to land in Orlando, I believe Orlando could make a late push for a playoff seed in the bottom-weak Eastern Conference this season. Burke is a talented offense player that due to his size has limitations on the defensive end, playing in Orlando surrounded by talented defenders with length like Jonathan Isaac, Jonathon Simmons, Aaron Gordon, and Mo Bamba could be a supreme fit for Trey. In New York the emergence of Undrafted Rookie Allonzo Trier has taken up Burke's potential playing time with the Knicks.

4) Lance Thomas
Position: Forward
Size: 6'8”, 240Lbs
Age: 30

Possible Great Fits: Denver Nuggets, Houston Rockets, Minnesota Timberwolves

Best Fit: Houston Rockets
Potential Role with Rockets: Reserve Forward

TrueFan Take:
Lance Thomas has been a nice story and good talent discovery by the New York Knicks organization under Phil Jackson but with the current Knicks trend to developing the younger wing players, Thomas talents might be better served with a different NBA Franchise. With the development this season of 2018 Summer Free Agent Noah Vonleh and the recent promising play of rookie forward Kevin Knox has created a vacuum of minutes at the forward positions in New York. Thomas could be a valuable veteran locker room presence for the young Knicks and could still be excellent depth for New York going forward but I believe if the Knicks management have an opportunity to get a second round pick or Trade-Exception in exchange for Thomas that would be a deal worth looking into.

5) Anthony Davis
Position: Center
Size: 6'10, 250Lbs
Age: 25

Possible Great Blockbuster Deal:

New Orleans Pelicans Receive
SG Tim Hardaway Jr, PF Noah Vonleh, PF/C Luke Kornet, SG Damyean Dotson, 2019 1st Round Pick, 2021 Lottery Protected 1st Round Pick

New York Knicks Receive
PF/C Anthony Davis, 2020 2nd Round Pick

TrueFan Take:
In recent NBA news, the major rumor has been around New Orleans Pelicans Superstar Anthony Davis possibly asking for a trade out of New Orleans. Before this new revelation became apparent I still believed that the New York Knicks should make a attempt to Trade for Davis to pair him with Kristaps Porzingis. I feel the Knicks aren't too far away from being a legitimate Eastern Conference foe with the return of Superstar Kristaps Porzingis, the development of rookie Kevin Knox, and the point guard position being secured by young Emmanuel Mudiay under coach Fizdale. Adding a player of Davis' caliber with those 3 players and the rest of the Knicks young budding roster could make a Eastern Conference contender immediately.

In this deal that I drafted the Knicks would be giving up a potential number 1 pick to the Pelicans for Davis, which could end up being one of Duke's prized freshmen Zion Williamson/RJ Barrett. But for the Knicks, if they can get Anthony Davis without giving up either Kevin Knox, Kristaps Porzingis or Frank Nitlikina the Knicks will be in perfect position to be a offense and defense Eastern Conference Juggernaut.

The potential Knicks lineup could make the league droll for years to come. A combination of Anthony Davis and Kristaps Porzingis in the front court with Kevin Knox and Frank Ntilikina on the wings paired with Emmanuel Mudiay setting the pace and steering the offense could make an intriguing starting five with excellent Offensive and Defensive potential. Ntilikina would offer elite defensive and floor spacing, whereas Knox could become unguardable given the attention Davis and Porzingis would demand. Mudiay could finesse into his natural ability of ball penetration and supreme passing talents. With coach David Fizdale past success in Memphis with that roster, this potential team would fit well with Fizdale's coaching prowess.
