The 2018 New York Knicks will be a team that continues to build for the future and a huge part of building that future will be through the NBA Draft. As we anticipate the NBA Lottery this week, many teams including the New York Knicks are hopeful the lottery will net them a higher draft pick. So before we know exactly where the Knicks will be picking from, here's a list of 5 players the Knicks fan can keep a eye on as possible players the New York Knicks might be drafting depending on what slot the NBA Draft Lottery gives the New York Knicks. Starting with the picks with the lowest odds of happens to the most likely first round pick for the Knicks with the possible draft pick prospect profile.

A)
Selection Odds: 1.7 % Percent Chance
Draft Selection: 1st Overall

TrueFan Knicks Selection At Pick:

-DeAndre Ayton
Postition: Center
College: Arizona
Height/Wingspan: 7'1 / 7'5
Weight: 260 Lbs
Age/Class : 19 / Freshman

Strengths
-Elite Athleticism
-Great Low Post/ Face Up Offense Game
-Excellent Rebounder/ Great Hands
-Offensive Versatility
-Franchise Player Potential

TrueFan Pro Player Comparison
DeMarcus Cousins, Derrick Coleman, Patrick Ewing, Joel Embiid

TrueFan Closest Pro Player Profile: Joel Embiid

TrueFan Verdict For Knicks:
If the New York Knicks are lucky enough to land the number one pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, most signs would point to DeAndre Ayton as the pick. Ayton has all the tools and skills to project as not only a Franchise Player in the league but to be a solid homerun Number One Pick. As for fit with the Knicks Ayton would quickly form a new age Twin Towers with Kristaps Porzingis and make the Knicks possibly a title contender in less than 2 seasons together.

B)
Selection Odds: 2.0 % Percent Chance
Draft Selection: 2nd Overall

TrueFan Knicks Selection At Pick:

-Mohamed Bamba
Postition: Center
College: Texas
Height/Wingspan: 7'0 / 7'9
Weight: 215 Lbs
Age/Class : 19 / Freshman

Strengths
-Rare Freakish Athleticism and Length
-Generational Rim Protector
-Great Rebounder with length
-Budding Offensive Skill Set with nice Shooting Stroke
-High Basketball IQ
-Potential Defensive Player of The Year

TrueFan Pro Player Comparison
Serge Ibaka, Rasheed Wallace, Anthony Davis, Kristaps Porzingis

TrueFan Closest Player Profile: Anthony Davis

TrueFan Verdict For Knicks:
If the Knicks are so lucky that they are able to land the 2nd overall selection in the 2018 Draft, this pick could instantly improve the Knicks fortunes and for a long time. I believe that if the Knicks are to land this pick, they would have to choose would be Harlem native Mohamed Bamba. In Bamba I feel he would be the best possible pick for the Knicks if they could choose any player in this year's draft. Bamba's fit in New York is virtually supreme. As a New York native Bamba would understand the city's pressure and would be embraced from being from the city. Bamba's Harlem connection gives him the needed flair for the big Madison Square Garden Stage and Bamba would be loved in New York City because of his attitude and tenacity on Defense and his elite Shot Blocking ability. As for basketball reasons, Bamba's potential and skill set closely resemble current Knicks Young cornerstone Kristaps Porzingis. I believe if the Knicks were some how able to get Bamba, the two of Bamba and Porzingis would be a match the league  history the NBA hasn't seen ever. Bamba projects to be a Rudy Gobert like Defensive star in the NBA, but however, in his draft process Bamba is currently working hard on his offensive skills and shooting ability, and hasn't come close yet to scratching the surface of his Offensive Potential. In my opinion even if the Knicks don't get Bamba, I believe Bamba has Anthony Davis like potential and whoever gets Bamba will get a player whose potential is virtually unlimited.

C)
Selection Odds: 2.4 % Percent Chance
Draft Selection: 3rd Overall

TrueFan Knicks Selection At Pick:

-Marvin Bagley
Postition: Power Forward / Small Forward
College: Duke
Height/Wingspan: 6'11 / 7'1
Weight: 225 Lbs
Age/Class : 19 / Freshman

Strengths
-Gifted Athlete
-Great Leaper / High Motor
-Tremendous Rebounder/ Has a Special Second Jump
-Defensive Versatility
-High Basketball IQ / Extremely Productive in NCAA

TrueFan Pro Player Comparison
Kevin Garnett, Michael Beasley, Antawn Jamison, Elvin Hayes

TrueFan Closest Player Profile: Antawn Jamison

TrueFan Verdict For Knicks:
If the Knicks are to be so lucky to land the 3rd pick in the 2018 Draft they would have the most options and decision at this selection. In my opinion if the Knicks were to land the 3rd pick and Mo Bamba wasn't still on the board, Marvin Bagley would have to be the choice. Marvin Bagley is most likely the Forward in this Draft with the highest potential upside. Bagley projects at the next level to be a potential cornerstone and highly productive NBA player. For the Knicks, this would be another Homerun, to pair Porzingis, Kanter, Mudiay and Ntilikina with Bagley; the Knicks would have a young and versatile team that could dominate when they put it all together.

D)
Selection Odds: 12.2 % Percent Chance
Draft Selection: 10th Overall

TrueFan Knicks Selection At Pick:

-Kevin Knox
Postition: Small Forward
College: Kentucky
Height/Wingspan: 6'9 / 7'0
Weight: 215 Lbs
Age/Class : 19 / Freshman

Strengths
-Fluid Athleticism / Excellent suddeness/quickness
-Good Shooting Ability/ Stroke
-Good Playmaker
-Great Offensive Versatility
-Great On-Ball Defender/ Good Instincts and Hands
-High Basketball IQ
-No Major Weaknesses

TrueFan Pro Player Comparison
Rashard Lewis, Antonie Walker, Tayshaun Prince, Hedo Turkoglu

TrueFan Closest Player Profile: Tayshaun Prince

TrueFan Verdict For Knicks:
If the Knicks are to lose a spot and drop to the 10th Overall Selection in the 2018 NBA Draft, the Knicks will still be able to get a great young player. While Texas Tech Zhaire Smith and Michigan State's Miles Bridges might be options, the best option for the Knicks of the possible available prospects is Kentucky's Kevin Knox in my opinion. Knox possess the most upside of the three and has a rare ability for the modern game NBA as a prototypical Stretch 4 in small-ball lineups. Knox also projects as a safer pick due to his game not having any glaring weaknesses. As for the Knicks, who are in this draft looking for a athletic and lengthy wing player, Knox fits that profile perfectly.

E)
Selection Odds: 81.3 % Percent Chance
Draft Selection: 9th Overall

TrueFan Knicks Selection At Pick:

-Mikal Bridges
Postition: Small Forward / Shooting Guard
College: Villanova
Height/Wingspan: 6'7 / 7'2
Weight: 210 Lbs
Age/Class : 22 / Junior

Strengths
-Elite Defensive Player
-Elite Defensive Abilities/ Instincts
-Excellent Shooter ( 2pt, 3pt, Free Throw)
-Offensive Versatility/ Playmaking Ability
-Potential Yearly All-Defense Team Member
-Good Rebounder
-High Basketball IQ

TrueFan Pro Player Comparison
Wesley Person, Paul George, Scottie Pippen, Otto Porter Jr

TrueFan Closest Player Profile: Paul George

TrueFan Verdict For Knicks:
For the New York Knicks after the 2017-18 Regular Season, the record they finished the year with slotted them for the 9th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, if the Knicks are to stay in this position after the Draft Lottery, all signs point to the Knicks most likely drafting Villanova Star Small Forward Mikal Bridges. Bridges fits all the points that Knicks brass has been claiming the team needs since January of 2018. Steve Mills, Scott Perry, and even former Head Coach Jeff Hornacek spoke of the Knicks pursuing a strong wing player that can excel defensively and become a strong two-way player. Even in new Head Coach David Fizdale press confence, He and Knicks brass preached becoming one of the best defenses in the NBA, in that case Bridges seems to be their man. Mikal Bridges in my opinion is not only the best on ball defender in this year's draft, he might also project as the best two-way player in the 2018 NBA Draft. If the Knicks have the 9th pick in the 2018 Draft and Bridges is still on the board, I believe with certainty in the 2018-19 Season, Mikal Bridges will be a Rookie of the Year Candidate in the New York Knicks uniform.

That's our Lottery based picks for the New York Knicks in the 2018 NBA Draft. After the NBA Draft lottery we will go more in-depth to the prospects the Knicks will most likely be choosing. Stay tuned and enjoy the process.
